Tignes - Sauterelle

High altitude, guaranteed snow (and lots of it), great variety of terrain and lively nightlife. What more do you need?
One of the highest ski resorts in the Alps, Tignes has guaranteed skiing virtually year round, even in summer on the Grande Motte glacier.
The area can justifiably boast consistently excellent snow conditions and one of the best snowfall records in France.
Tignes skiing area is part of the vast Espace Killy Domain, with over 300kms of varied terrain, linked to the neighbouring resort of Val D´Isere.
Tignes is a great resort for all abilities, there really is something for everyone from altitudes of 1550m to over 3400m.
beginners
The skiing terrain on offer in Tignes is simply vast. There´s several free lifts for beginners and progression is normally quick with the aid of a good ski school.
Loads of wide, confidence building runs and great snow conditions mean that beginners can set their sights on the long sweeping runs up on the Grand Motte glacier by the end of their first week skiing.
intermediates
For intermediates there is a good mix of mellow and more difficult blues to perfect their skills and exhilirating reds to cut their skiing or snowboarding teeth on.
These should keep even the most ambitious intermediate challenged during their time in Tignes.
experts
More advanced skiers and snowboarders enjoy Tignes year upon year for its mix of difficult and challenging black pistes, the seemingly limitless backcountry off-piste potential (best and most sensibly enjoyed with a guide) and the closer to resort, easily accessible, steep and deep stuff with open powder fields and near vertical chutes.
The high altitude ensures that fabulous powder stashes can be found even late in the season (that´s also why it´s best to take a guide...)

espace killy
And when you add Val D´Isere into the mix you have the Espace Killy skiing domain, easily accessed within one or two chairlift rides from the Tignes side, this gives you a huge amount of skiing and snowboarding area to explore.
More than enough to keep even the most hardcore skier or boarder entertained.
Tignes and Val D´Isere are both world famous, world class ski areas and each have a different feel.
The skiing and boarding is unbelievably good in both but sufficiently different too, it´s just a matter of deciding which you fancy when you leave the chalet in the morning.

freestyle
There´s the Swatch Park for all your jibbing, jumping, spinning and pipe riding needs. The park in Tignes is a long flowing run with a high speed chair for easy access (or a draglift).
There´s also a BIG AIR bag which is free to use, open every day and is the perfect place to try out your new tricks without the risk of injury.
The pipe at Tignes is impressive and free to use for anyone with a lift pass.
In 2013, after 8 years in Switzerland, ´The Brits´ competition made its new home in Tignes.
The finest in British skiing and snowboarding descend on Tignes to compete with each other in the world class resort and show the rest of the world what British skiers  and snowboarders have to offer.
